Newington Children's Theatre Company Is Building a New Home - with Its Own Performing Space!
We are thrilled to announce that we have found a new location in Newington and begun building a new facility that will accommodate all we do and much more!
Location and Timing
We’re staying in Newington — 50 Rockwell Road is an existing warehouse building located on the southern side of town, convenient to the Berlin Turnpike and Routes 9 and 91. Our new "neighbors" will include Stew Leonard's, Sam's Club, GF Fitness, Burlington, Wood-n-Tap, Dave's Hot Chicken, Friendly's, and the stores and restaurants at Meadow Commons.
We're aiming to have the new stage ready for the start of Season 65 in July 2027. For now, we’ll continue rehearsing at our Day Street location; at some point in late winter or early spring, we'll move to our new space and rehearse there.
Our New Home
Thanks to perpetual fundraising, prudent financial management, a state grant secured by our legislators, and a major donor (more to come!), our new state-of-the art space will include:
-
A main auditorium with 250+ permanent seats
-
An additional "black box" theater for specialized productions
-
More spaces to rehearse, including a dance studio
-
Upgraded technology
-
Dedicated areas for building sets and tailoring costumes
-
Greatly improved parking
-
Room to grow our program and offerings
-
... all in a clean, bright, and spacious new environment!
When our performers can rehearse in the same space where they’re performing, it makes for a much better experience for all involved. We are taking a major step in that direction!
This is a tremendous undertaking and we can't do it alone.
There are many ways to get involved:
-
Fundraising
-
Sponsorship/naming opportunities
-
Design committee
-
Moving committee
-
Supplemental programs (renting out space for things like voice lessons, dance lessons, etc.)
Whether you have expertise in any of these areas, can connect us with people who do, or are simply motivated to be a part in what comes next — we welcome your support!
